Above is a picture of the candle I bought for my son’s birthday.
It opens up like a flower blooming.
I don’t normally buy such an extravagant candle.
But we are having a family party for my son.
We are on a tight budget.
But the candle is special I think.
I love it.
We all do.
The candle plays Happy Birthday and I sing with it.
The flower has 8 candles.
This is his eighth birthday.
Later when he is getting ready for bed he asks me what the candle cost.
I tell him $5.99.
He asks me if we can use it again.
I tell him I don’t think so.
He says the candle was a rip off.
I tell him sometimes it’s okay to spend a little money frivolously.
I tell him the candle made me happy three times already.
1. When I bought it.
2. When It played Happy Birthday and unfolded.
3. When I saw his happy face.
I tell him I think the candle made him happy too.
Later though the candle does not bring happiness.
My older son tells me he put the candle in the garage.
The candle is still playing Happy Birthday.
We are going mad he tell me.
(His sister and boyfriend too)
So after my son falls asleep I go out in the garage .
I listen to Happy Birthday one more time.
And then I cut the wire with scissors.
Because his 8th birthday is over and he is fast asleep.
Happy Birthday Cason!
We love you : )
