We are having a playdate with my neighbors.
My son is having a great time.
I think this is because our neighbors kids are 4 and 2.
My son makes up games and directs their play.
My son is creative, engaging and very bossy.
But since they are younger they go right along with his script.
Later he gives the little boy some money.
My son is very generous when he likes someone.
Then he draws a picture and gives it to the little girl.
She has very good manners and thanks him.
But she is looking at her younger brothers money and thinking she would rather have it.
You see my son thinks boys like money and girls like pretty things.
(He has actually stated this before.)
But as they are leaving my son hears the little girl ask her brother if he will give her his money.
He is only 2 but very smart.
He tells her no.
By now my son has figured out what is going on.
He tells them they can share.
He will make things even.
He tells the girl he will rip the picture in half.
He thinks her brother will give her half his coins and she will give him half the picture.
I tell my son this is not a good idea.
The picture cannot be ripped in half.
It is precious.
I tell him it’s the same with people’s hearts.
Art and Hearts are a lot alike I think.
And I hope my son learns this lesson sooner than his Dad did.
