I made some funfetti Candy popcorn for our spring carnival bake sale this year.
This was about the easiest thing I’ve ever made.
First , you pop three full size bags of microwave plain popcorn.
No butter or salt.
Next, roll out a very long piece of wax paper and spread the popcorn out in a single layer.
You want to pick through it at this point and get rid of any unpopped kernels.
You don’t want anyone cracking a tooth!
You are going to then melt a bag of Wilton candy discs in the microwave for 30 second intervals.
This took me quite a while and I was expecting it to be a liquid that I would pour over the popcorn.
This never happened for me so I used a spoon and dropped it on the popcorn instead.
As I was dropping the melted candy on the popcorn I also sprinkled each drop with candy confetti.
It took a lot longer to cool so you probably don’t have to do both at the same time like I did.
I left it right on the counter to cool.
When I packaged it for the bake sale I made sure each cup had some plain popcorn and then loose sprinkles on the bottom.
Then I added three bits of the funfetti candy coated popcorn on top.
I also printed colorful labels for each one.
I think this would be great for a birthday party treat along with strawberry smoothies.
