I’ve got to be honest with you…
Initially I thought this one word resolution thing was ridiculous.
I know it’s been going on for years now.
I saw a friends post last year with her one word written on her coffee mug.
Ugh, was what I thought.
But before you judge me too harshly I have to tell you I’m a list girl.
I buy notebooks to write them in.
I make lists and revise them daily.
Until the other day…
I saw this poem posted on Facebook and I am not kidding when I say the word useful jumped out of the page.
It was dancing around in my face and forced me to think about it.
I’m not anything special.
Mom if your reading this I know your going to say I am in the comment section and I love you for that.
What I mean by this is yes, we are all create by God and special but I’m not any more special than you.
I also think there is a certain degree of humility in recognizing this.
So useful is something you and I can do and do well.
It’s the eggs you loan the neighbor, it’s your friends kids you have over to play so they can get some work done.
It’s just a listening ear when needed.
So this year I’m not making a list.
A list that I never even get halfway through any way.
It feels good to be useful.
You get a satisfied feeling.
I’m a big believer in the circle of life and Karma.
I’m probably not going to ever do big things but I can do lots of small things with a big heart.

How To Choose A One Word Resolution
1. Think about something you do that gives you satisfaction.
Something you would like to do more of.
Is there one word to describe it?
2. Do you have a poem that means something to you?
Is there a specific word in the poem you could choose?
3. Ask your family and friends if they have a one word resolution.
You don’t want to copy them but it may help you decide on one.
4. Pray about it.
Divine intervention might make a word dance in your face like mine did.
5. Write the word or words down you are considering for the year.
How does it look on paper.
How does it make you feel seeing it.
Are you going to be happy with this word 8 months from now?
