Do you want to know how to fix your toilet that won’t stop running?
I know this is not a fix it blog but heck…
my toilet has been running for a really long time.
I would rather buy a pair of shoes than call a plumber.
But I also know when I’m in over my head and then I loosen the purse strings and call in an expert.
(Pay dearly too. )
But let me tell you this is not one of those times!
After you read this post you can go buy those shoes and then stop at the hardware store on the way home.
Here’s what you will buy.
Most of the time it is going to be your flapper that needs to be replaced.
There are many different brands and types so I brought the old one in a bag.
I have an old toilet.
and this thing…
wasn’t doing much flapping.
First I drained the toilet by flushing it and then turned the water off.
Then take off the old flapper and put the new one in place.
(I had already removed it though- so I could show it to the hardware store helper.)
There are several holes in this arm but you want to pick the one that makes the chain the right length.
Turn the water back on, fill the tank up and give it a try.
The tank should fill 3/4 full and the flapper should have enough chain to close the hole off and seal properly.
So easy and if you need another incentive to fix your toilet you are wasting precious pennies while your toilet is running.
Think of money towards those shoes.
Now go wash your hands because playing in the potty is not lady like. (Tee, Hee)
