Last year I copied my neighbor ‘s idea and had a photo shoot with my son.
She even let me borrow her old wooden desk.
I had to drive two houses down to get this desk to my house. It was sooooo heavy.
My neighbor has a daughter. So… obviously not the same photo shoot.
At first he was all smiles.
We included his book Captain Underpants -which is so far his favorite series.
If you know nothing about these books you are probably lucky : )
But… if you are trying to find a way to get your potty talking second grader excited about reading then click here.
Order one or a set. I’m not kidding. I wish I was.
I even turned into an academy actress while reading these books to my son.
I laugh, throw my head back and repeat the silly parts.
My son thinks I am as excited as he is about these books.
The other day he told the librarian that I love the Captain Underpants books and could she find one I hadn’t read yet.
She looked at me strangely but I don’t care because I do love books and really want my son to find joy in reading.
Eventually I had to get the book away from him.
This is a photo shoot remember?
Pretend to do homework I told him.
After a while he told me what he thought of the photo shoot.
But we also got this one of him.
It reminds me of his shy side. I don’t see it often and when I do it reminds me that he is only seven and still needs me to love and protect him.
Even if he likes potty talk and books about toilets :0
