Are you wondering what a good- riddance party is?
Back in the Victorian days people had a party a little like our New Years ones.
Only at this one they wrote down their regrets from the last year on a piece of paper.
Then they put it in a sealed envelope and dropped it in a fire.
Or buried it in the backyard.
This formal ritual signified a new beginning.
It gave them comfort and they could heal.
We all have disappointments we are holding onto from this year.
From the big to the small let them go.
Divorce, a ruined budget, a mistake at work to name a few.
If you are like most people you have examined and re-examined them time and time again.
As my Dad likes to say, “You are beating a dead horse. ”
Talking about something once is helpful but anymore is just destructive .
It’s like a boat trying to sail the seas with it’s anchor down.
Let’s cut the anchor loose.
