My son made this picture the other day.
Yes, we all know he can hit.
He has at some point in time hit his parents, siblings, classmates and friends.
Years ago, he was almost kicked out of Pre-K because “he can hit.”
When other kids tease him or push him his first reaction is to hit them.
Impulse control is his number one daily challenge.
Some days are better than others.
On the days things don’t go so well he will eventually say he is sorry.
“Do you still love me? “
“Will you always love me?”
and he means no matter how badly he has just behaved.
It is on these tough days that I feel like our most important lessons are learned.
He is learning the power of forgiveness. This includes forgiving yourself.
He is learning about unconditional love.
He is also learning about the power of prayer and starting each day new!
But I really think that I am learning the most from my forth child.
He has taught me patience and perseverance and the healing power of love.
I think in life it is during the tough times that we grow and become the people God wants us to be.
