I tell my son we need to run to Walgreens.
I tell him the school nurse is moving to Minnesota and we should get her a card.
My son finds great birthday cards.
I find great congratulations cards.
But we buy her a thank-you card because we both are very lucky to have her help this year.
When we get home I ask my son if he knows her last name.
He says it is Allen but I don’t trust him and I go to the school web site to look it up.
He sees me doing this so I tell him I need to check on the spelling.
Then he asks me if there is more than one way to spell Allen.
I tell him maybe but he thinks I am stupid.
(He is right about her last name and I think this is why we are a good team because he can remember her last name and I can remember the day she is moving to Minnesota and also to buy a card.)
I tell him to just sign the card.
I point to where I want him to sign.
He signs his name but then he keeps writing.
I am worried about what he is writing.
Then I see it.
After his name.
