This simple strawberry green smoothie is my new love!
To make it you need:
2 cups frozen strawberries
1/2 frozen banana
2 Tablespoons flaxseed meal
2 cups fresh baby spinach
1 cup vanilla almond milk
This is what I bought the first time but there is also a 30 calorie one which I bought the second time.
Our local Publix ran a special buy one get one free -woo, hoo!
You want to be sure to store the flaxseed meal in the refrigerator so It will stay fresh.
Online the general consensus was a month or two and then they no longer have their beneficial qualities.
Chia seeds are another option and do not need to be refrigerated since they are in the seed form.
Once something is ground up the clock starts ticking on its life.
I got a bunch of bananas…
I peeled, cut and put each one in a snack bag.
Then I put them in a freezer bag for freshness.
This simple step eliminates the need for ice in the smoothie.
I was able to get a Vitamixer to jump start my career in smoothie making.
It’s a top of the line blender and they have them on sale at costco now.
It is amazing what happens to the spinach leaves in seconds!
I made a mixed berry version of this one and I think I like it even better.
I omitted the banana and used 2 1/2 cups of frozen mixed berries.
The mixed berries are a stronger flavor and you could really increase the spinach leaves to 3 cups without even noticing.
I feel so good after I drink one of these and it really kept me full for hours.
