This book is about the Salem witch trials of 1692.
The authors grandmother nine generations back was hanged in Massachusetts during these trials.
The main character Sarah is a young girl arrested for suspicion of practicing witchcraft.
She spends months in a crowded cellar prison.
The author has woven a family legend with a historical account of the events of this time period.
The book is not only captivating but also very informative.
I loaned this book to a friend of mine who thought it was upsetting but a good read.
I like to get upset and feel something when I read a book.
I highly recommend this book.
