This was a lovely book.
It is another novel that is both personal and historical.
Two sisters after the death of their father discover that their mother is not really the woman they thought she was.
The sisters learn of their mothers past through fairytales she tells them each night.
The reader is drawn into these and soon discovers that the real story of Leningrad, war and death is no fairytale.
This really made me think about people and what they may have been through.
Often they build walls to protect themselves or survive when the truth is too painful.
In the end though, the truth will set you free.
You will love Anya’s journey to peace.
