You can get out of a funk!
Wikihow.com defines a funk “as a mood that is characterized by lack of motivation, grumpiness and general malaise.”
We’ve all been there right?
Here’s five ideas to fix that funk.
1. Call someone who makes you laugh.
We all have that friend who can laugh at anything life throws their way.
Or in this case yours.
Better even, treat them to coffee.
Reward them for their good cheer and make a promise to return the favor when they need it.
Do not…I repeat do not call Debbie Downer.
We all have one of these friends too.
You have to be at the top of your game to hang with her.
2. Do something nice for yourself.
You don’t have to spend money either- So don’t use that as an excuse.
Paint your nails or do your hair or make-up.
Who cares if your not going anywhere.
I can’t tell you how many days I lifted my mood just by spending a little time on myself.
We busy mom’s usually let ourselves go on a daily basis.
Move yourself up on the list sister.
You are important.
3. Let others know your in a funk.
If you aren’t your usual patient self that’s okay but by all means explain this to those around you.
You don’t want to add an argument to your already low mood.
Usually your perspective is lopsided at this point so you don’t want to make any big decisions either.
I keep a few inspirational books around the house and re-read highlighted parts from years past.
Of course, the bible is one of the most inspirational books with God’s promises to us!
Harry Pappas (a columnist for the Ponte Vedra Recorder) calls these “brain food.”
If your not a reader the library has lots of audio tapes.
I have a friend who listens to them in his car as he drives around.
Another friend likes to watch the news to keep a realistic appreciation of her life.
You don’t want to do this if you think it might make you even more low though.
Sometimes I have to remind myself that very little is needed for a happy life.
We have so many things available to us. We have numerous ways to fill our time.
We are always multitasking. But true joy is not found in the multitudes or many.
It is found in our heart with our loved ones.
Sometimes your subconscious is trying to tell you something.
In the end life is a gift.
We are meant to enjoy it!
